Internship/Externship Opportunities
Healing Places Counseling Center (HPCC) considers training future professionals in the field of mental health counseling an important part of its mission.
To that end, HPCC occasionally offers an externship to individuals who have received a Masters degree from a recognized and accredited university and who are actively pursuing licensure with the State of Washington and/or standing as a Fellow in The American Association for Pastoral Counselors.
HPCC also occasionally offers an internship for general counseling and pastoral counseling programs from accredited universities that offer a masters degree in counseling.
An intern/extern has an opportunity to see a broad range of clients, to utilize a broad range of counseling modalities, to receive clinical supervision from trained and highly experienced supervisors, and to experience the operations of a small not-for-profit counseling agency.
Internships/externships are offered on a per case basis according to available resources and are individually negotiated.
For more detailed information, please contact the Internship/Externship Director, Frederick D. Wegener, at (253) 566-7456 or fredwegener@qwest.net.

Current Extern
Linda C. Ingham
I have recently graduted with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Seattle University. My training is in clinical psychology and theology. It is also both practical/clinical and academic. Psychodynamic theory is the foundation of the training with integration of family systems, narrative, cognitive, behavioral and humanistic theories. The theology component of my training provides a broad perspective into the diversity of spiritual, religious, sacred and secular orientations that influence a client’s life. Healing Places Counseling Center provides me with professional and formative clinical space, and supervision as a Mental Health Counselor.
Wholeness and healing has been a part of my life journey for many years. In this journey I have co-authored curriculum and facilitated children’s grief groups at Bridges: A Center for Grieving Children, Tacoma, WA . I am interested in how imagery, story and losses impact self-perception, create themes and ways of relating in the world and between people.
